Measuring Before You Decide

Most home goods disappoint for one reason: they do not fit, or they do not do the job the buyer pictured. We would rather you spend two minutes with a tape measure than open a parcel that has to go straight back. Before ordering anything meant to slot into a space, please measure the space itself.

When you measure, record the clear opening, meaning the internal width, depth, and height that a product can actually occupy, rather than the outside edge of the cabinet, shelf, or doorway. A bin that lists a generous outer width can still refuse to slide between two fixed panels if you forget the thickness of a door frame or a hinge. For pieces that are assembled on site, allow a little tolerance for uneven floors and skirting boards.

Please also check the stated capacity and dimensions on the product page and compare them with what you intend to store. A container sized for dry pasta may be the wrong shape for a tall cereal box. If you are unsure whether an item suits your space, contact us before ordering and we will help you read the specifications against your measurements.
